0 YAELLE Partners with Official Brit Awards 2012

13:36

YAELLE is proud and excited to be Partners to the Official 2012 BRIT AWARDS goodie bag!
All YAELLE scarves are designed and made here in the UK, from the print and stitch to the luxury packaging. The Brit Awards is a fantastic event to be a part of... celebrating the talent that Britain holds.

Nominees this year include the likes of Jessie J, Florence and the Machine, Adele, Pixie Lott and Rihanna.
We are thinking the colourful Hamsa Circle scarf would look gorgeous on Jessie J, Papillon Purple would look beautiful on Pixie Lott and Russian Doll White would look stunning on Adele.

We will be down there on the night watching performances from Rihanna, Coldplay and Adele to name a few... supporting British talent (and having a good time!)

You can follow YAELLE scarves and all the latest Brit Award goings on with Twitter @YAELLEltd and YAELLE Scarves Facebook Page.

0 Style on Sunday Features Hamsa Purple Scarf!

13:29

Hamsa Purple silk scarf was featured in the Style on Sunday supplement! The Hamsa hand is believed to bring luck and prosperity. The Hamsa Purple silk scarf is adorned with beautifully hand drawn hamsa hands in bright colours and a bold purple background. I was inspired by the way the hamsa hand is used as a decoration on walls in places like Morocco. I love the below image of all the different shapes and sizes of the hamsa's against the wash of bright turquoise!

0 Scarf Heaven

09:00

Just got hold of the latest German Vogue and I am loving the front cover! Scarf heaven! The editorial was modelled by Carola Remer and shot by photographer Greg Kadel.
The final images are stunning. I love the layering of the scarves used as clothing and how all of the different prints and textures work so well together. It shows you in a really interesting way how versatile scarves are and how they don't just have to be worn around your neck! Beautiful.

0 Paper Fashion

16:37

Whilst in my studio getting my new mood board together for my new silk scarf collection I came across Jennifer Collier.

It is unusual that something grabs my attention as much as Stafford based paper artist Jennifer Collier did. Her work is so delicate and beautiful I think I looked at every single piece on her website... at least 3 times! She creates everything from paper, the papers themselves are often pages from books or maps which would otherwise be thrown away. I love how much attention to detail she pays in her work. I sat for ages looking at images of her work and noticing new things every time I looked. This is what I try and create whilst drawing designs for my scarves. I like the fact that you look at something and then the more you look the detail you see.

I often have women pick up a scarf and comment on the design and then a few moments later they notice something new... and then again and again! I think Jennifer Collier's work is probably like this too! I love the tiny stitch marks and mixed media of her work. My favourites have to be the paper binoculars and the stamp dress! I don't know why but these pieces just make me smile.

0 A Shaded View of Fashion

14:36

While I was at University I was really interested in alternate ways to show my designs rather than just on a catwalk or in sketchbook. I did my dissertation on technologies and how they are helping designers take the traditional fashion show to a new level. For example, the Diesel hologram catwalk show where they had virtual seal life creatures swimming alongside the real life catwalk models. Then there was the Kate Moss and McQueen hologram piece which was simply beautiful and way ahead of its time. These fresh takes on traditional methods of catwalks I find fascinating.
I was excited to find out that there is an actual fashion film festival called A Shaded View of Fashion held in Paris this September. I think fashion film is a very powerful media so for there to be a whole film festival dedicate to this is very exciting. I am pleased that myself and Ched53 will be collaborating on another short fashion film to show Yaelle scarves new collection together very soon in the glamours Monaco.... watch this space! 1 Ftape

13:33

I was introduced to the website www.ftape.com by India Hobson (amazing photographer who has done my last photoshoot and will be doing my next one!) She showed me a photoshoot which she thought I would like... and I fell in love with it so thought I would share it! It was inspired by the artist Vladimir Tretchikoff and is a contemporary take his beautiful paintings. I love the way his paintings are so bold and colourful yet also very muted. Below are images of his original paintings called Balinese Girl and Chinese Girl. Below that are the images from the Ftape photoshoot.
I want to incorporate these ideas for the next photoshoot for Yaelle Scarves. These colours printed onto silk will make gorgeous scarves!
