If you are in London anytime soon you should pop into the Mr Brainwash exhibition.
Artist Thierry Guetta -or, perhaps better known as Mr. Brainwash, came to London for his very first solo show in the UK.
French-born Guetta gained international recognition after being featured in Banksy's Oscar-nominated documentary, Exit Through The Gift Shop in 2010.
It is full of bright, colourful feel good pieces that make you look twice. They are not always what they seem! This is also the case in YAELLE scarves, they are all hand illustrated so the more you look at them the more you discover. We love the below image of The Beatles wearing scarves overs their faces!
Entry is free and don't forget to pick up your free posters as you exit through the gift shop!
Every now and then I go onto the TED website for a bit of inspiration. Last time I was on the website I came across a talk by artist and storyteller Beatrice Coron. She was born
and raised in Lyon, France, lived in Taiwan, Mexico and Egypt, and has been living
and working in New York since 1984.
Beatrice creates these beautiful cut out paper stories. They really are exquisite. I love the fact that the more you look at them the more things you see and discover. My personal favourite has to be the cut out paper scarf!
Watch the below video of her talking about her work and see the paper cape she is wearing... Amazing!
For my SS12 scarf collection I decided I wanted to go to the place where I always feel most inspired.... the South of France. India Hobson and I have been talking and planning this shoot for over a year, so to finally get out there in the sun to shoot was pretty amazing. The weather was perfect and as well as shooting we also got time to do a little sun bathing and exploring which was a bonus!
Aaron who did the last fashion film for me also flew out to film another fashion film. We shot it in Monaco and apart from getting told off every so often for using a tripod (apparently you can't shoot with a tripod in Monaco unless you have a permit!) it was a really exciting day.
I don't want to reveal too much of what happened and the amazing images we got so here are a few sneak peaks of behind the scenes.
A HUGE thank you to the following people who all helped and contributed in one way or another to make this fantastic shoot and experience happen. India Hobson, Ellie Hallsworth, Aaron Cheesman, Galya & Nat Denaro, Lee Joseph Elliot, Lee Thompson, Beth Rees, Floriane Falcou, Joelle Falcou & Jessie Lane.
I am really happy to be doing a small collaboration with Aveda.
Every April Aveda dedicate this month and call it Earth Month. 'During the month of April, the Aveda network works together to raise funds for grassroots organisations that protect biodiversity and address environmental issues around the world. The Earth Month campaign focuses on a specified environmental topic each year, helping to raise awareness around the issue, cultivate and educate supporters, and contribute funds to dedicated non-profit conservation organisations' This really is a great cause, to read more about it take a look at the website.... http://www.aveda.co.uk/earthmonth/
I have donated a Russian doll silk scarf to help raise money for Earth Month which is displayed on the Aveda counter. I am hoping we raise lots of money and raise awareness of this brilliant cause!
I have wanted to do a short fashion film of my scarves for absolutely ages... so when I stumbled across Aaron from Ched53 and his first attempt at a video with the beautiful Emma Nicole Cooke I was blown away.
Aaron had created a beautiful short test clip called 'The Heat' and I just loved it...
I contacted Aaron to see if he wanted to collaborate on a short piece to which he said yes...yey!
We hadn't really planned anything specific apart from that I wanted to film it in the amazing Chimney House which I have fallen in love with! We thought we would just improvise and see what happened.
Once the models Ellie Hallsworth and Danielle Nikki had arrived and all the hair and make up was done by Nicki Donohoe and Khila Jones we found out we only had an hour to shoot in! Panic time!
We literally tried to film as much as we could in the hour, usually the first hour would be to get the models warmed up but we just had to go with it and get as much on film as we could.
The lighting was also a bit of a problem as it was quite low and a lot of what Aaron filmed came out quite grainy.
After a very rushed hour of trying to be calm but very much panicking! We had got all we could and called it a day.
I really wasn't sure what to expect from Aaron but what he came up with I truly loved.
It was exactly what I had in my head... A short romantic film showing the scarves in a very different way to my photoshoot. I just love it!
I definitely want to collaborate with Aaron again and do something more planned out with a bit more time. If Aaron can come up with what he did under the circumstances imaging what he could do with proper planning and time!
