0 The Brit Awards After Show Party

03:06

The Official Brits after show party was a life size funfair, which included full sized dodgems, a helter skelter, fortune tellers, and so much more! There was also a Hackney Carriage complete with lots of different props to wear on the back seat that took pictures of you every few seconds- very amusing!

It was an absolutely fantastic evening and made us here at Yaelle very proud to be a British brand!

As Official Partners to The Brit Awards 2012 we were invited down on the evening to watch the show (which was incredible) and also to the after show party (just as incredible!)
All the nominees, winners and presenters received a YAELLE silk scarf along with other goodie bag treats such as a leather Coach tote bag, Agent Provocateur perfume and a French connection shopping spree.

The Official Brit Awards 2012 Programme

Performances by Adele and Florence + The Machine were personal favourites and outfits worn by Jessie J and Rhianna we loved! Jessie J wore a beautiful bright red sheer gown by Indian designers Falguni & Shane Peacock. This is part of their SS campaign and the below image of the dress was shot in Los Angeles.

As ever Rihanna's performance of We Found Love complete with on stage paint fights was one to remember! Rihanna won Best International Artist which was well deserved.

Of course the Brits never finishes without some sort of drama! We all couldn't believe when James Corden had to ask Adele to stop her speech! We could see what was happening from our seats and felt sorry for poor James Corden who had to stop her! To the amusement of the crowd, Adele stuck her middle finger up at the 'suits' to a huge cheer from the audience. In consolation she did take home Brit Awards for Best British Album and Best British Female, well done Adele!

0 DUKES Hotel Mayfair & YAELLE Collaboration

03:16

Last year I got a very exciting opportunity from DUKES Hotel Mayfair. I have been wanting to tell everybody for a long time but had to keep it all under wraps! I was asked to go down to London to visit the hotel and meet the general manager Debrah to discuss an exciting opportunity... to do a collaboration with DUKES Hotel. I was asked to design a bespoke silk scarf for the DUKES staff! When I approached the hotel I instantly fell in love with it! A small courtyard tucked away down a quiet side street in Mayfair, it is a true hidden gem.
DUKES is part of the very prestigious 'Small Luxury Hotels of the World' group and is the winner of the coveted prize of 'England’s Leading Boutique Hotel'
Ian Fleming, best known for creating the James Bond series was a regular guest of DUKES Bar. It was here he got the inspiration for the classic James Bond line regarding his Martini: “shaken, not stirred.”

Every part of the hotel is steeped in heritage and full of charm. Whilst sat in the cigar garden I noticed above me were a set of beautiful mirrors and picture frames. Straight away I knew I wanted to take elements of the hotel and set them in some miniature hand drawn picture fames. The elements of the hotel I thought were important and wanted to incorporate on the scarf were: A bottle of Perrier Jouet, the hotel’s house champagne; a martini glass and cocktail shaker, emblematising the world famous martinis served in the DUKES bar; a Dachshund representing the cast iron ‘Dukesie Dog’ that welcomes guests on arrival in the hotel lobby and a British flag to highlight the hotel’s traditional, British heritage.

I have also designed a bigger 100cm x 100cm traditional YAELLE size scarf for DUKES hotel but I can't reveal that until after the official launch of the collaboration down at DUKES Hotel this week!
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed designing this scarf and cannot wait to see it on the staff at DUKES Hotel.

0 Tibi 2012 Pre-Fall Collection

14:36

I have never been a huge fan of androgynous fashion however I love Tibi's 2012 pre-fall collection. Tibi's head designer Amy Smilovic combines simple silhouettes a  flash of neon mixed with a beautiful silk print that makes the collection a little more feminine.  A colourful printed silk scarf would bring to life some of the more muted pieces!
