We wanted to share with you a little insight into our inspiration behind the shoot for YAELLE silk scarves. Below are some mood board images that contributed to the final look and feel of the shoot. For the final images we also decided to add a parrot! This made the images come to life and have texture and movement. You can take a look at the final images here. We hope you love them as much as we do!

We were incredibly fortunate to have the extremely talented Emma from BOOM NAILS  to design and paint us some nails especially for our new scarf photo shoot.
Emma designed us two sets, one taken from the Russian Doll Turquoise Silk Scarf and one taken from the Vintage Jewellery Silk Scarf. The detail is just amazing, look how cute the faces are on the Russian Dolls! A huge thank you to Emma! Have a look at her other nail designs at:

Exit Through The Gift Shop

If you are in London anytime soon you should pop into the Mr Brainwash exhibition.
Artist Thierry Guetta -or, perhaps better known as Mr. Brainwash, came to London for his very first solo show in the UK.
French-born Guetta gained international recognition after being featured in Banksy's Oscar-nominated documentary, Exit Through The Gift Shop in 2010.
It is full of bright, colourful feel good pieces that make you look twice. They are not always what they seem! This is also the case in YAELLE scarves, they are all hand illustrated so the more you look at them the more you discover.
We love the below image of The Beatles wearing scarves overs their faces!
Entry is free and don't forget to pick up your free posters as you exit through the gift shop!

The 1000 Journal Project

The 1000 Journal Project was created by 'Someguy'. This is a fascinating project, which we here at YAELLE HQ have been following for some time now.

The idea behind the project is quite simple. One thousand blank journals distributed around San Francisco. They were left in bar bathrooms, cafe's, left on buses and given to strangers. Each journal contained instructions to pass along to someone else once they have drawn/written created something on one of the blank pages.
There are no set rules, only to pass it on or leave it somewhere for someone else to find. The technique is based on an old parlor game and requires each participant to write or draw on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal their work, then pass it on to the next participant. The end result is a product of the group's collective consciousness.

Some journals never made it back to 'Someguy' however each journal has its own adventure and story.
They've been lost and found, forgotten and remembered.  They've been the subject of treasure hunts, brought to remote mountaintops, abandoned at airports, and even stolen at gunpoint.

We seem to be in the 'Digital Age' and we often forget the basics of creativity. There is nothing more satisfying than filling a blank piece of paper with original artwork in different medias. All YAELLE scarves start off simply with pen to paper drawings. Keeping our designs real and unique.
This is why we love the 1000 Journal Project!

Original Sketchbook Art Work for 'The Paris Scarf'
Below are some images from some of the journals that made it back, you can follow this amazing story on the 1000 Journal Project website.

This week YAELLE silk scarves have been featured in STATUS Magazine.
'STATUS is Asia’s youth culture magazine, focusing on the future of fashion, music, art, and urban lifestyles–from Manila to Singapore, Seoul to Paris, LA to New York, and everywhere in between'
The latest issue, Sex, Love, and Rock & Roll features an amazing illustrated Maroon 5 on the cover.

Also featured in this issue is designer Alba Prat's Neon Old School Collection. For her second collection Alba Prat got inspired by the cold war children going to school with their leather bags and knitted accessories handmade by their grandmothers. Disciplined pupils are represented in three different outfits, in which the bright and strong spirit of their childhood is spreading around through the neon color. We love the contrast between nostalgic school days and the contemporary neon edge.

Marie Antoinette Silk Scarf

We love Chanel's 2013 Resort collection. Set in the gardens of Versailles (the historic palace in Paris where Marie Antoinette once lived). The collection is girly with an edgy twist featuring candy coloured wigs powered to dull them down to softer, chalky pastel hues.
The models had the finishing touch of a miniature black velvet Chanel logo as a beauty spot on either the left or right side of the face, (how cute!)
The collection featured rich touches of Rococo gold embroidery, lots of ruffles and beaded detail.
We are instantly reminded of a modern day Marie Antoinette!
The YAELLE Marie Antoinette silk scarf features delicately drawn lace fans. Discover the world of Marie Antoinette in this beautifully hand drawn silk scarf. Each fan has parts of her world inside, from colourful French Macarons and exquisite vintage jewellery, to beautifully decorated slip-on shoes covered in pearls.

In The Press

Here on our desk we have the brilliant write up in Profile Magazine featuring some of our favourite shots from the Yaelle SS12 collection photo shoot. If you've read it, go tell us what you thought over on our Facebook page, we'd love to hear from you! Also while you're over there check out our latest competition to WIN your very own Yaelle scarf!

Our thanks to Profile Magazine for featuring us in this fantastic article.

Here at Yaelle HQ, we are all lusting after the SS12 collection from Parisienne designer Shourouk Rhaiem. The brand is a perfected twist of modern brightness and classic vintage opulence. The motto behind her brand is 'luxury and decadence', which makes it fit perfectly with what we are about at Yaelle.

Also, how much does the jewellery remind you of our Vintage Jewellery Scarf?! What an ultimate match for that ideal accessorised look.

Mother's Day Gift Inspiration

We have two beautiful new scarves on the website this week as part of the new 'French Collection'; 'The Paris Silk Scarf' and 'Vintage Jewellery silk scarf', perfect for a Mother's Day Gift.
The Paris scarf has hand drawn illustrations of the streets of Paris, including a patisserie, a shoe shop and a typical French style cafe. This scarf tells the tale of the romance of wondering down Paris backstreets exploring and discovering treasures on the way. This scarf comes in red or blue stripes complete with a cute mini Eiffel Tower charm.

Have fun with this scarf and the many ways to wear it... Dress up an outfit by tying two corners in a simple knot and resting it over your shoulders. Or for the true French look try wearing it neatly folded on your head like the image below!

The Vintage Jewellery silk scarf is adorned with hand illustrated vintage jewels, sparkling with colourful hues reflected off diamonds, pearls and sapphires. A silk scarf full of treasures waiting to be discovered and worn. Another great gift for Mother's Day this year! Try wearing this silk scarf as a shawl on your shoulders over an evening dress or tie it around your neck for a more casual look with the filigree hamsa hand charm on show!

The Brit Awards After Show Party

The Official Brits after show party was a life size funfair, which included full sized dodgems, a helter skelter, fortune tellers, and so much more! There was also a Hackney Carriage complete with lots of different props to wear on the back seat that took pictures of you every few seconds- very amusing!

It was an absolutely fantastic evening and made us here at Yaelle very proud to be a British brand!

Brit Awards Fun!

As Official Partners to The Brit Awards 2012 we were invited down on the evening to watch the show (which was incredible) and also to the after show party (just as incredible!)
All the nominees, winners and presenters received a YAELLE silk scarf along with other goodie bag treats such as a leather Coach tote bag, Agent Provocateur perfume and a French connection shopping spree.

The Official Brit Awards 2012 Programme
Performances by Adele and Florence + The Machine were personal favourites and outfits worn by Jessie J and Rhianna we loved! Jessie J wore a beautiful bright red sheer gown by Indian designers Falguni & Shane Peacock. This is part of their SS campaign and the below image of the dress was shot in Los Angeles.

As ever Rihanna's performance of We Found Love complete with on stage paint fights was one to remember! Rihanna won Best International Artist which was well deserved.

Of course the Brits never finishes without some sort of drama! We all couldn't believe when James Corden had to ask Adele to stop her speech! We could see what was happening from our seats and felt sorry for poor James Corden who had to stop her! To the amusement of the crowd, Adele stuck her middle finger up at the 'suits' to a huge cheer from the audience. In consolation she did take home Brit Awards for Best British Album and Best British Female, well done Adele!
